There is much wisdom in resorting to resorting to natural organic gardening methods and consuming foods that our bodies can work with.
Here are some of the world's worst conventional farmed foods that are considered to be extremely dangerous.
Raw Cashews - Most of us will not hesitate to buy a bag full of these from our local farm stall. Unknown to you, the cashews you buy are not exactly raw. The kernels of the cashews would have been steamed as a way to remove a dangerous chemical known as urushiol.
Fugu - Referred to as puffer fish and regarded as a Japanese delicacy. This fish is generally served raw and should only be served by trained chefs. If not prepared properly, it can kill you.
Elderberries - Some varieties are okay to eat. There are however some where the twigs and leaves contain deadly chemicals that are similar in nature to cyanide.
Chillies - Most people regard these as harmless. However, they contain a chemical known as capsaicin. If you eat too many of these, it can actually kill you.
Cassava - As a Tropical root crop, commonly referred to as Tapioca and used as a filler in cakes and chips, it can be quite dangerous as it contains linamarin can lead to irreversible paralysis.
Mushrooms - About 100 of the 5,000 types of mushrooms are not to be eaten.
Potatoes - You may not know this. But, potato is actually toxic. Some would even turn into a greenish color due to higher levels of glycoalkaloid.
Almonds - These are extremely popular and often found in kitchen around the world. If they are not properly processed, the cyanide in the seeds can kill you.
Cherries - Beware of the pips as it is high in cyanide and very toxic in nature.
Apples - The same applies to apples. Even though the fruit itself is not poisonous, the seed contain cyanide, and should be avoided.
It goes to show that best organic gardening practices are still best.
